Personality

Selflessness defines her. Her children come before everything, so completely that her first words after emerging from a coma are a question about how Jinah is doing. That same steadfastness extends to her marriage. Clinging to the belief that her husband will one day return, she refuses to leave the family's longtime apartment so he will know where to find them.

History

In her younger days Kyung-Hye fell for a firefighter, Sung Il-Hwan, and the two married and raised two cherished children, Jinwoo and Jinah. As gates began surfacing worldwide, Il-Hwan traded firefighting for hunting, only to vanish inside a dungeon during a raid. Presumed dead, he was never given up on by Kyung-Hye, who raised the children alone. A childhood memory captures her character: when a young Jinwoo accidentally scalded her neck with boiling water while washing her hair, she set aside her own pain to make sure he was unhurt first.

Four years before the main story, Kyung-Hye began showing signs of Eternal Slumber. As the illness pulled her toward a coma, she extracted a promise from Jinwoo to look after Jinah in her absence. Her recovery comes only after Jinwoo slays Baran, crafts the Holy Water of Life, and administers the cure, lifting both the Slumber and any harm sustained while she lay unconscious. Waking, she immediately asks after Jinah and is relieved to learn Jinwoo kept his word. Doctors who hope to study her sudden cure quickly discharge her once they learn her son is an S-Rank Hunter.

During the Monarchs War, Jinah asks about moving away, but Kyung-Hye, still convinced her husband lives, gently declines. When Jinwoo appears to be slain on live television by Rakan, she clutches Jinah and weeps. Only after Il-Hwan perishes from overextending his power against Sillad, as if sensing his death, does she finally agree to leave the old apartment. When Jinwoo returns home alive after being resurrected by Ashborn, mother and daughter embrace him in relief.
