Appearance

Slicked-back dirty blonde hair, with one stubborn strand sticking up, frames Jinchul's youthful face, and his eyes are normally black, glowing purple whenever he is angered or channeling his powers. His everyday outfit as a senior Association official pairs a black suit with sunglasses, while raids see him in gleaming silver armor accented by blue trim and gold shoulder plates. By the rewritten timeline his look shifts entirely. Wrinkles line his features, a thick beard covers his jaw, and a plain black suit suits his new standing atop Korea's Hunters Association.

Personality

Reserved almost to a fault, Jinchul seldom lets emotion surface. Choi Jong-In observes that he refuses to guess at things and clings strictly to verified facts, and like his old superior Go Gunhee he holds contempt for anyone driven purely by greed. That icy professionalism hides genuine feeling, though. Gunhee's murder left him grieving for days, and his patience does have limits, as Lee Minsung discovered when his endless demands finally drew Jinchul's temper. In the reset timeline his retained memories turn him into the most wary hunter alive; as Chairman he leads with calm intelligence, grasping not only the threat of gates and beasts but also that Jin-Woo's prolonged absence signals an enemy even deadlier than the Monarchs.

History

Following the first Double Dungeon incident, Jinchul went to Jinwoo's hospital room to gauge his mana, expecting a reawakening, and left let down when the readings showed nothing, never realizing the System had given Jinwoo something far greater. He later investigated the carnage caused by Kang Taeshik, dismissed the idea that the low-ranked Jinwoo could have killed him, and warned Jinwoo that Hwang Dongsoo wanted revenge for his brother. When Hwang came to Korea, Jinchul was assigned to shadow him and even act as his driver, stepping between Baek Yoonho and Hwang to stop their clash before it began. After Jinwoo was re-evaluated as S-Rank, Jinchul brought him to meet Gunhee, observed the failed recruitment, and joined them for drinks afterward.

Jinchul kept crossing paths with Jinwoo during the Hunters Guild and Ahjin Guild raids, repeatedly stunned by his power and quietly covering for him to keep the press at bay. He was nearly killed alongside Choi and Cha when the Architect attacked the reopened Double Dungeon, surviving only because Jinwoo woke in time. After Gunhee's death he mourned in private and, despite hesitation, accepted the Association's offer to succeed him as Chairman. Once Jinwoo shared his memories of the Monarch-Ruler war, Jinchul understood how dire the danger truly was. In the rebuilt timeline he begins as a detective with only vague unease, regains his memories after reuniting with Jinwoo, and rebuilds the Korean Hunters Association from scratch. Having awakened early and stockpiled runestones, he reigns as the strongest hunter, recruits future awakeners, Kim Chul and Choi Jong-In among them, and readies Earth for Jinwoo's return. The strain of forcing too many skills into one vessel eventually begins killing him, until Jinwoo's Reconstruction skill, embedded in Xavier's Soulstone, fuses the conflicting powers into a stable whole.
