Anya Forger

Anya's most recognizable features are her light pink hair and the horn-like ornaments she wears on either side of her head. The shoulder-length hair curls inward beneath a straight fringe, topped by a single stray ahoge, and the triangular, yellow-accented headpieces stay on even while she sleeps. She goes without them only in flashbacks to her laboratory days and at the end-of-class gala, where her hair goes up in small buns instead.

Her big green eyes, oval in shape and heavily lashed, sit in a fair-skinned face that broadcasts every emotion. At 99.5 cm she stands well below her classmates; Loid pegged her at four or five years old when they first met, and Damian's friends needle her about her height, though Damian himself comes to find her pretty. Around the house she favors the black dress with a white bow she wore at the orphanage. At Eden Academy she pairs the standard uniform with white knee-high socks, black Mary Janes, and a brown schoolbag hung with a sheep keychain. As a toddler in the research facility she wore lab-style scrubs, her hair tied into pointed buns.

Anya is cheerful, curious, and endlessly imaginative, filtering everyday life through the adventure cartoons she loves. Years of laboratory isolation and repeated returns from foster homes left her terrified of being discarded, so the family she finds with Loid and Yor becomes the thing she treasures most; any mention of her biological mother can still reduce her to tears. Secure at last, she devotes herself to protecting the Forger household even while grasping only a child's version of what her parents actually do.

She idolizes the adults around her and copies them shamelessly, mimicking Loid's preparedness, learning to punch from Yor, and briefly trying to become a "cool liar" like her father before concluding that deception is harder than it looks. Espionage thrills her: rather than fearing danger, she tends to read hijackings and stakeouts as chances to join her parents' secret adventures, and she schemes constantly on behalf of Operation Strix, sometimes fretting that someone more useful might replace her in it.

Her telepathy shapes everything. Conditioned from infancy to conceal it, she believes Loid and Yor would reject her if they learned the truth, so she hides the gift even while leaning on it daily. Hearing thoughts firsthand gives her startling empathy, and after earning her first Stella Star she starts to see the power as a way to help people rather than a mere mission tool. It also makes her odd. She blurts out knowledge she should not have, reduces complex situations to simple cause and effect, and coins literal nicknames like "Sy-on Boy" after overhearing Loid call Damian the Desmond scion. Transparent to a fault, she telegraphs her feelings so plainly that a game of Old Maid becomes hopeless, and her bluntness yields unfiltered reviews of Yor's cooking. Through it all she stays resilient and hungry for praise, parading as "Starlight Anya," obsessing over peanuts, and losing all motivation the moment a task stops being fun, a weakness most visible in her lifelong war with studying.

Anya reads the minds of humans and animals alike, a power engineered by the unknown organization that raised her as Test Subject "007" and visualized in the story as small sparks around her head. It has firm limits: highly disciplined minds like Loid's resist interpretation, intensely emotional ones like Yuri's cause her heartburn-like discomfort, range matters, and every new moon triggers "Eclipsing," a total shutdown of the ability. Crowds are her worst enemy, since the flood of overlapping thoughts can leave her dizzy, exhausted, or bleeding from the nose, especially when fear or hostility dominates the room.

Beyond telepathy she is sharper than her report card suggests. Likely a year younger than her forged papers claim, she still cleared Eden Academy's entrance exam and keeps pace with coursework built for older children, and she shows genuine talent in Classical Language, placing second in her year on the term final after tutoring from Sigmund Authen. She improvises brilliantly in a crisis, having saved both parents through quick thinking, and can even fool Loid on occasion. Yor's training gave her a punch strong enough to send Damian flying, plus a repertoire of self-styled special moves such as Killer Punch, Star Catcher Arrow, and Rising Hope. Her weaknesses are just as childlike: indecipherable handwriting, poor coordination and stamina, chronically low test scores, and a heavy reliance on mind reading in place of study, which backfires whenever she reads the wrong person or Eclipsing strikes.
