Foliage comes to mind before anything else: Gympie's wild, unruly hair juts out in leaf-like tufts around a frame so small she could pass for either a short woman or a girl. Heavy black markings ring her wide, prominent eyes, reading like layers of thickly painted lashes.

Her working outfit pairs a roomy, long vest with trousers cut like rain gear, finished with black gloves and boots for a practical, slightly rugged look.

Anger seems genuinely hard to provoke in Gympie. She carries herself gently, greets fellow operatives with courtesy rather than arrogance, and steps in as peacemaker the moment Hemlock starts threatening Yor. Politeness never means passivity, though: when Hemlock refuses to pass along a salve she prepared, she glares him down and forces the issue, unwilling to let a betrayal of her trust slide.

She is also candid about her own insecurities. Gympie confesses to envying Yor, not merely for her strength but for managing a marriage alongside an assassin's work, a life Gympie doubts her own body will ever allow her.

Gympie surfaces during the Poacher Hunting events, making her presence known at Garden while assignments are distributed for a mission protecting the Miteran elk from poachers. She proposes the operative Thistle as backup before Hemlock volunteers himself, then calms the room when Hemlock bristles at Yor's remark about avoiding bugs. Matthew McMahon judges her short on the firepower a poacher fight demands, so she sits the operation out; chemistry is her real weapon. Fellow assassins call her the group's poison expert, able to concoct toxins and medicines potent enough to affect even Yor, whose resistance to drugs is exceptional.

After the mission she prepares a pain-relieving salve for the wounds Yor took fighting Hemlock and orders him to deliver it both as an apology and as a first move toward patching things up, having realized her own worries about ever finding a lover may have fed his attack. When he denies feeling any envy, she stands firm until he grabs the bag and storms off. Later, during the Eden Scandal events, the sleep-friendly tea blend Yor obtains for Melinda Desmond's insomnia comes from Gympie's hands.

Her codename likely honors the gympie-gympie, a viciously stinging plant from Malesia and Australia, an ironic namesake for so mild-mannered an assassin.
