In the facility years, the child designated Test Subject 007 wore garments resembling medical scrubs, her hair gathered into two pointed buns. Today she is a tiny girl with pale skin, shoulder-length light pink hair curling inward beneath a small ahoge, and large emerald-green eyes fringed with prominent lashes. A pair of triangular hair ornaments accented in yellow almost never leaves her head, worn even in sleep, and she stands noticeably below her classmates in height, a legacy of being younger than the age on her forged papers.

For all her strange origins, the former test subject is a bright, energetic child who throws herself at the ordinary pleasures she was long denied, her imagination running wild on spy cartoons and adventure stories. The facility and a string of foster families who gave her back left deep abandonment wounds; belonging to a loving family is what she wants above everything, and mentions of her biological mother can still bring tears.

An experiment run by an organization whose identity remains unknown produced her telepathy, and she spent her earliest years inside its research facility, where the staff trained her gift in place of any formal education. That gap still shows: she leans on classmates' minds instead of studying, a shortcut that collapses whenever she misreads someone, targets the wrong thinker, or hits Eclipsing, the researchers' term for the total shutdown of her power at each new moon.

Her ability reads humans and animals alike within a limited range, signaled by faint spark-like flickers around her head. Densely disciplined minds such as Loid's resist interpretation, and intensely emotional ones like Yuri's or Fiona's cause her physical discomfort akin to heartburn. She can even pick up emotional states, once feeling an inexplicable chill as Damian's feelings toward her shifted.

After the facility, she cycled through foster households that repeatedly returned her, living under a chain of surnames including Williams, Levski, and Roche before landing in an orphanage. There the WISE agent Twilight, hunting for a child who could pass Eden Academy's exam, adopted her as Anya Forger. Having read his mind, she knows exactly what her father is, and keeps both his secret and her own.
