Tonitrus Bolt

Written with the character for thunder and read Tonito, the Tonitrus Bolt is Eden Academy's formal demerit, the dark mirror of the Stella Star. Where stars reward excellence, bolts brand academic failure and misconduct, and their accumulation carries the harshest consequence the school can impose.

Bolts are handed down for substandard exam performance or breaches of conduct, with exam scores under 30 counting as failures. A student who collects eight is expelled immediately, though high-ranking faculty hold discretion to soften the count for a given offense. Minor infractions first draw Rain, an umbrella-shaped warning marker that converts into a bolt if violations repeat. Certain acts skip the warning entirely: striking another student costs three bolts automatically.

The academy's recorded grounds for a bolt sketch its severity. Screaming Die at a classmate has been weighed as bolt-worthy, and the list of punishable conduct runs from smoking on school grounds, unkempt uniforms, and uncouth speech to conspiring toward violence, smuggling snacks or playing cards into class, going without a required handkerchief, wearing unauthorized accessories, and slipping into off-limits places like the old schoolhouse. Students who fall short on exams may additionally be routed into remedial classes.
