Chapter 94

A Bondman ski scene on television sets Anya crying for a snow trip, and Loid caves, framing the outing as her reward for the exams. On the slopes he coaches his family; Yor rockets off in the wrong direction at terrifying speed, saves herself with a mid-air kick off a tree, and fumbles to explain the stunt, while Bond consoles Anya after her own failed runs.

A brewing blizzard closes the roads, forcing the family into the last free room at a nearby lodge alongside a ski club of college students, the owner and his wife, an employee, a tabloid writer, and a ski enthusiast. Dinner conversation turns to the Red Snowman, a local legend about a monster that picks off townsfolk during storms; the writer's attempt to frighten Anya only fires up her monster-hunting enthusiasm. Later, with the guests scattered, a shadowy figure carrying something sharp moves through the corridors. When everyone regathers for cake, Yor and the student Max are missing, a crash rings out, and Max is soon discovered stabbed in the back, the weapon a frozen carrot.

Loid treats the wounded man, repairs the severed phone line with a cover story about a college repair job, and learns the police cannot arrive before morning. He announces the attacker must be someone inside the lodge, which turns every eye toward Yor, the only guest absent from the lobby; she insists she was outside enjoying the storm. Loid blocks the tabloid writer's attempt to restrain her and vows to expose the real culprit. Anya promptly hears the truth in the lodge owner's thoughts: he plans to disguise his killings, first as the Snowman's work and now as a lovers' quarrel, punishing the noisy students. Bond's precognition gives Anya the time and place of the next attack, and her hints steer Loid into position to catch the owner in the act. Using his memory and deduction, he dismantles the man's tricks without drawing attention to himself, and the police take the owner away at dawn.

Heading to the station, Anya crowns it the best trip ever for feeling like a live detective show, drawing a scolding from both parents about avoiding dangerous people, while she privately notes that the two of them qualify.

The Forgers take a family ski trip and are trapped overnight at a lodge by a blizzard.

College student Max is found stabbed with a frozen carrot, and suspicion briefly lands on Yor.

Anya's telepathy identifies the lodge owner as the attacker, and Bond's foresight reveals when the next strike will come.

Loid catches the owner mid-attempt, breaks down his alibi, and hands the case to the police without blowing his cover.

A 23-page Volume 14 chapter in the Term Finals Arc, released January 22, 2024, with Bondman, Bond, Anya, and Loid on the cover.

The whole chapter is an homage to the 1994 visual novel Kamaitachi no Yoru (localized as Banshee's Last Cry), a ski lodge murder mystery, and it later spawned the collaboration game Kamaitachi no Yor with Spike Chunsoft. It also nods to Detective Conan: the shadowed culprit figure mirrors that series' "Criminal" silhouette, and Loid's accusing pose copies Shinichi Kudo. Every character introduced here bears a pun name, and Yukigoonie Station plays on yukiguni, Japanese for snow country.
