Short Mission 3

One evening, Anya and Bond stay up watching the cartoon Bear Squad past bedtime, and Anya is stunned when its penguin character is killed on screen. Loid hauls her off to bed, where she consoles herself by sleeping with her penguin plush. Bond glares at the toy from outside her door. Come morning, Anya wakes to find the plush shredded, and Loid identifies bite and claw marks that point straight at the dog. Reading Bond's jealous thoughts confirms it, and Anya furiously yells that she hates him, plunging him into despair.

Yor's attempt at repairs only rips the toy further. Loid offers to buy a replacement, but Anya refuses because the penguin was his gift, words that touch him into fixing it personally after sending her off to finish breakfast and study. Mid-repair he notices Bond hunting for something in the kitchen. When Loid presents the mended plush, Anya comments on the new stitches, and he sheepishly dubs them badges of honor, raising her opinion of them. Bond then pads in with a peanut bag clamped in his jaws by way of apology, and with a nudge from Loid, Anya forgives him, to the dog's joy. As dog and penguin seal their truce with a handshake, Loid wishes tensions between East and West resolved themselves as easily.

The penguin character's on-screen death in Bear Squad upsets Anya. Bond destroys her penguin plush out of jealousy and is caught through bite marks and telepathy.

Loid repairs the toy after Yor makes the damage worse, and Bond wins forgiveness with a peanut offering.

Short Mission 3 is a ten-page extra chapter of Tatsuya Endo's SPY x FAMILY manga, numbered 24.1 in Volume 5 and released on April 6, 2020; Episode 21 adapts it, and Bond, Anya, and Loid share the cover. Bear Squad follows the Army Cartography Corps, a concept Endo once pitched as its own serialization before it was rejected as too bland. The chapter illustration spoofs the series' ad banner on Shonen Jump+.
