Hikari Kirishima

Hikari wore her hair in a light shade, letting the bangs drape over her right eye, the very same distinctive style her daughter Touka would later share.

In her youth Hikari came across as a tomboy with a forceful will, remembered by her brother as chatty and tough, and mischievous enough to torment him with bugs for a laugh. Her gentler, warmer side only surfaced after she fell for Arata Kirishima. Before that she had been a wild creature who hunted and devoured people freely, a ferocity that Yomo notes her children inherited.

As a young ghoul, Hikari built a fearsome reputation, killing and eating humans in great numbers and reportedly turning on fellow ghouls as well, behavior dangerous enough that the CCG may have dispatched its strongest agent to end her. The deaths of her parents and a brother left her to raise the young Renji Yomo alone, and the two stayed together until she built a family with Arata. Motherhood softened her, though she never fully abandoned the hunt. When Touka was born, she presented the infant to Yomo and vowed to remain his older sister no matter what came. Not long after her son Ayato arrived, Kishou Arima killed her, a death that drove both her husband and her brother to chase after power, Arata to shield their children and Yomo to avenge her.
