Kouitsu Chigyou

Chigyou is a man of average height who typically dresses in a dark shirt and trousers beneath a lab coat. His black hair is cut in a bowl style so dense that it hides his eyes entirely. Once the timeskip arrives, he adds a slim mustache to his look.

Approachable and willing to lend a hand, Chigyou comes across as both friendly and useful, as when he delivers the Arata quinque to Koutarou Amon at a critical moment. Beneath that helpfulness, however, runs a scientist more absorbed by whether an idea can be made to function than by its moral weight, a bent reflected in his push to develop the Quinx after studying Ken Kaneki's captured body.

Before joining the CCG's laboratory work, Chigyou conducted research at the GFG in Germany. During the raid on Kanou's lab he is introduced to Juuzou Suzuya by Yukinori Shinohara and equips Suzuya with the new quinque 13's Jason. In the Owl Suppression Operation he rushes an Arata unit and a revised Doujima to Amon just in time to face Kaneki, and afterward outfits Suzuya with prosthetic metal legs.

When the Rose investigation gets underway, Chigyou hands Ginshi Shirazu the Nutcracker quinque, admiring its rare chimera qualities and showing concern when Shirazu grows ill. His contributions echo later too, as Akihiro Kanou credits him with inventing the very method used to produce the Quinx squad.
