Anteiku

To the public, Anteiku looked like an ordinary, pleasant little cafe, yet beneath that surface it operated as an organization devoted to the ghouls of the 20th Ward. The shop itself occupied the ground floor, an upper level held storage and a meeting room, and a concealed basement stored human flesh while offering a passage down into the 24th Ward. The anime rendered the layout a little differently, placing the entrance below and the cafe up a flight of stairs, with living quarters set aside for members such as Touka Kirishima and Hinami Fueguchi.

The organization looked after ghouls in need, oversaw the feeding territories of the 20th Ward, and sourced food by recovering the remains of humans who had taken their own lives, sparing its people from preying on the living. Its steadying influence left the ward so peaceful that the CCG largely overlooked it, and by an unspoken understanding the local ghouls never touched the cafe's human patrons. During the Owl Suppression Operation the building was destroyed and its wreckage cleared away, after which several former staff went on to open a new shop in another ward called :re.

The cafe was run by its manager Yoshimura and staffed over the years by figures including Enji Koma, Kaya Irimi, Ken Kaneki, Nishiki Nishio, Roma Hoito, Touka Kirishima, and Renji Yomo, with a cockatiel named Hetare kept on the premises. After the raid its people scattered to sharply different fates: Yoshimura fell into Aogiri's hands, Koma and Irimi eventually reached :re, Touka and Yomo founded that new cafe, Nishiki took up the alias Serpent, and Kaneki went on to lead the group known as Goat.
