Aogiri drops Kaneki inside the group's stronghold. Ayato drags him before Tatara, who probes his body, declares Rize dead, and dismisses the captive as useless. Left locked away and rattled by talk of Dr. Kanou, Kaneki hears Banjou whisper a plan to flee.
A boot to the body wakes Kaneki inside the Aogiri Tree hideout, where Ayato is waiting. When he asks after Touka, Ayato silences him with a kick and warns that questions are not permitted. Kaneki begins to suspect he was seized because the organization covets Rize's organs, and Ayato cautions that the higher-ups will show him none of the mercy he is used to.
Ayato marches him into a gathering of Aogiri's leaders and a crowd of roughly a hundred ghouls, where Tatara assumes control of him. Thrusting a hand into Kaneki's torso, Tatara concludes that he is a one-eyed ghoul and that Rize must therefore be dead. He tells Ayato the prisoner is worthless and can be disposed of as he pleases. The mention of Dr. Akihiro Kanou baffles Kaneki, and Tatara reveals that no kidney was ever placed inside him, though his single eye still makes him useful in a fight.
Tatara then summons Eto to set their scheme in motion, since the investigators are expected to strike soon. Confined to a cell and haunted by thoughts of Kanou and Yoshimura, Kaneki is approached by Banjou, who proposes that the two of them escape.
Tatara physically confirms Kaneki as a one-eyed ghoul and deduces Rize's death. The revelation that Kanou implanted no kidney deepens the mystery of Kaneki's creation. Aogiri braces for a CCG raid as Tatara and Eto prepare their plan, and Banjou plants the idea of a breakout.

Naruto vs Luffy with the twist nobody asked for: Luffy tickled Hinata on date night, and she kind of liked it. We break down the whole fight and commit to a winner....

There are no women on Namek. That isn't an oversight, it's the biology. Why we handed Piccolo the one thing his own species rules out, and why it had to be trap soul....

Tatara reveals in Chapter 54 that Kaneki is a one-eyed ghoul, which he takes as proof that Rize Kamishiro must be dead, though he calls Kaneki otherwise useless except in a fight.
