Mischief tightens the noose from both directions. Shinohara warns Amon about Jason, the sadistic butcher of the 13th ward, and hands him one of Mado's quinques. Inside the hideout, Kaneki is forced to carve up corpses while Banjou shields young Kouto and vows to get his people out alive.
Inside the Commission of Counter Ghoul, Amon and Shinohara spot Jason of the 13th ward among their targets. Shinohara describes the ghoul's murders as savage and cruel enough that even First Class Investigators shrink from facing him. Because Amon's previous quinque is broken, he is set to inherit one of the weapons once wielded by Kureo Mado.
At the hideout, Kaneki labors alongside the lower-ranking members, forced to break down the bodies Aogiri has slain. Banjou offers a hand, but Kaneki refuses to lean on him. When another member catches Kouto sneaking a piece of meat and raises a fist, Banjou steps in and covers for the boy, claiming he had ordered the theft himself.
Afterward, Banjou confides to Kaneki that he is set on freeing his followers before Aogiri gets around to killing him.
The CCG marks Jason as a priority threat, and Amon is assigned a quinque from Kureo Mado's arsenal. Kaneki is put to grim work dismantling corpses inside the hideout. Banjou protects Kouto and renews his determination to see his followers escape.
