Summary

Inside the ghoul restaurant, Shuu Tsukiyama opens the evening by unveiling the next gourmet course for the assembled guests. With the earlier slaughter behind them, Kaneki, Tsukiyama, and Kazuichi Banjou question Gil and his companions about Aogiri Tree's break-in at Cochlea and the flood of inmates it set loose. Tsukiyama floats the idea that Shachi may have been among the SS-rated ghouls who slipped out during the chaos.

Gil refuses to trust the notion and demands to know why Shachi never resurfaced if he had gone free. Kaneki lays out several possibilities, from Shachi joining Aogiri to being devoured by them for power after defying the group, and he privately hopes neither is true, since he still needs the man to learn more about Rize Kamishiro. When one guest hints that Kaneki had a hand in wiping out the seventh ward restaurant, he brushes it off with an evasive denial. Before the next dish arrives, Tsukiyama reviews with him the scheme to exploit Madam A as a route to Kanou's location.

The diners begin to panic as the one-eyed ghoul reveals himself among them. Kaneki springs up to their level, brands the crowd a nuisance to be cleared away, and starts cutting through the guests as they scramble for exits that Banjou and the Gas Masks have sealed. Just short of seizing the Madam, two unfamiliar ghouls, Kurona and Nashiro, cut him off. During the brief clash he registers that their kagune are identical to his own, proof that Kanou is still using Rize to manufacture artificial half-ghouls and confirmation that the doctor waits beyond the Madam.

His pursuit of Madam A stalls when the Yasuhisa sisters intervene, and the match hands Kaneki a decisive clue: their matching kagune tie the whole operation back to Kanou's experiments on Rize.
