Jack: Chapter 4

At a hidden gathering, ghouls fret that the investigators have been concentrating on the 13th Ward, singling out a two-man team of high schoolers, one physically formidable and the other carrying an anti-ghoul weapon. When some members scoff at Fura and Arima as children toying with playthings, the Lantern cautions that even strong ghouls could stumble against the pair.

Sumiharu Katou is a twenty-two-year-old ghoul working as a beautician. He seems accomplished, telling a client short hair suits her for summer and sensing from her strands that she has slept poorly. As he cuts, an unnatural obsession surfaces along with his ghoul hunger. Politely bidding her goodbye, he inwardly harbors malice toward humans, confessing a craving to shave his customers bald, savoring their hair, and even to peel back the scalp for a taste of the flesh beneath, delighting in killing those whose hair appeals to him.

Because investigators crowding the 13th Ward have kept him from eating his fill, Katou plots carefully. He fixes on a girl named Minami, a second-year high schooler he says he has admired for over a year; from the first sight of her hair he trembled with appetite. He lets slip his hunger for her flesh and blood, drawn by its uniquely overwhelming scent, and vows to soon cut away all her hair, meaning to kill her.

That night Minami takes a dark alley home, uneasy about the route. Katou creeps up, seizes her by the neck, and slams her against a wall. Arima and Fura rush in and strike at him. Fura checks on Minami, who is stunned to find Arima present, and Arima scolds Fura for lowering his guard, warning that this ghoul is a touch too strong for them.

Ghouls of the ward acknowledge the threat posed by Arima and Fura's team. Sumiharu Katou, a beautician ghoul obsessed with eating hair and scalp, targets student Uruka Minami and corners her in an alley, only for Arima and Fura to intervene.

The fourth chapter of Tokyo Ghoul: Jack runs thirty pages with a US release of August 2, 2016. It debuts the antagonist Sumiharu Katou. Yakumo Oomori appears among the assembled ghouls.
