Summary

Following their wedding, Takeomi Kuroiwa and Yoriko Kosaka step outside to the cheers of assembled investigators and guests, and Yoriko's tossed bouquet lands in a startled Misato Gori's hands. Amid the applause, Urie shoots Mutsuki a sidelong glance. The two speak afterward, Mutsuki admitting Yoriko looked beautiful and wondering whether they might find such happiness themselves. The lighter mood collapses when Mutsuki turns to his visit to the coffee shop and his meeting with Haise, confirming to Urie that Sasaki is alive and a traitor. The CCG means to kill rather than detain him, which Mutsuki opposes; he wants everyone reunited and refuses to abandon the idea even when Urie warns he could be charged as a criminal. Mutsuki reveals that his role as the Oggai squads' training supervisor grants him access to top missions, then confesses his love for Haise before walking off, leaving Urie stunned.

Shinsanpei Aura, who skipped the ceremony, visits his aunt Kiyoko. When she calls the day joyous, his temper flares, and pulling back her blanket he exposes her legs, both severed below the knee, declaring there is no joy for him until Sasaki is dead. He apologizes and covers her again when she says she is cold, and she muses about steel legs like Juuzou Suzuya's, while he promises to deliver Sasaki to her as a quinque.

In a park, Koori Ui approaches Okahira, treating him and the Oggai supplementary squads as proof the dead can live again, since Okahira had died during the Tsukiyama Family Extermination Operation and was revived through Kanou's work. Okahira guesses Koori longs for Arima or Hairu Ihei, but insists bluntly that the dead do not come back, then excuses himself to take his medicine before he dies once more. Elsewhere, Touka and Kaneki watch the wedding from a distance. Touka thanks him for bringing her and realizes the hand Mutsuki flaunted was a fake meant to bluff her. She tosses Kaneki a corded ring engraved with the names Arata and Hikari, explains they were her parents and her source of strength, and gives it to him. He hangs it around his neck as a reminder of her, and the two set out to rejoin Goat while a centipede crawls unnoticed below.
