:re Chapter 13

Hunting the flesh-broker Nutcracker, Haise Sasaki brings his young Quinx team to a club in the 13th Ward that she is known to haunt. Salvaged data points to a scheme in which she baits people with phony catering work and harvests them as auction stock, her quota still unfilled. Haise's countermeasure has himself, Shirazu, and Tooru Mutsuki pose as women alongside Saiko to catch her eye. Kuki Urie sits the operation out, still mending from surgery, which Shirazu grumbles about.

Rattled by the disguise and his mentor's amusement, Mutsuki downs a stray drink to steady himself and later chats up the target so warmly that the others assume he is drunk. Watching from a distance, Shirazu presses Haise about Saiko, and Haise recounts how her mother abandoned the family and traded the girl to the CCG for cash. That opens a heavier question, whether Haise would walk away if his lost memories ever returned. He promises he will not, then privately dreads that recovering Kaneki might erase the friend he has become.

Mutsuki succeeds in getting hired by Nutcracker and secures her contact details, and the squad celebrates before slipping onto the dance floor. Elsewhere in the venue, Nico and Roma Hoito clock the resemblance beneath Haise's altered looks and manner, having anticipated this meeting. Roma bristles at his contentment and openly wishes for the anguished Kaneki to resurface even if Haise must be discarded for it, and Nico neither disagrees nor approves. The following morning, Haise and Juuzou Suzuya sit down with Matsuri Washuu to map out the Auction Mopping-up Operation.

The Japanese title is ああ降ろう、血 (Ā Furō, Chi), also rendered as Let It Rain Blood. The chapter belongs to the second volume of Tokyo Ghoul:re and first ran in issue 2015-08 on January 22, 2015. Flashbacks fill in Saiko's family history, while mentions of Ken Kaneki underline the identity Haise no longer recalls.
