When a voice calls for Marude to pull everyone off the beast, Kimi talks him out of it, arguing the tremors are only a reaction to outside stimulus, most likely Mutsuki carving into an eye during his fight with Touka. She warns that if Dragon genuinely reawakens, its mass will swell tenfold, which makes the current push very likely the only chance to bring it down.

On another stretch of the creature, swarms of humanoid kagune things erupt and set upon any investigator within reach, with Katsuya Mabuchi reckoning the odds at a hundred to one. Amon and the Suzuya Squad discover the monsters can be wounded by quinques and mount a counterattack while Marude keeps the ghouls and Quinx focused on finding Kaneki. Pressing forward, Urie's team stumbles on Miza's downed body and recognizes the knife wounds as Mutsuki's work.

Some distance off, Touka is losing ground to Mutsuki, who slips past or shatters every projectile her kagune throws and grinds her down with a mix of blades and kagune. Caught at last, she is seized by the throat as Mutsuki taunts that she moved faster in their previous clash. As he describes in grisly detail how he means to end her, Touka kicks him off and declares that her husband is still waiting for her. The word husband leaves Mutsuki stunned on the ground, repeating it in disbelief. Before Touka can steady herself, Shinsanpei Aura strikes her from behind and swiftly puts her down, announcing to Mutsuki that he has captured her. Still murmuring husband to himself, Mutsuki advances with his knife just as the rest of the Quinx Squad arrives and Urie orders him to stop.

The Japanese title Gomi hitotsu translates to One Piece of Trash. The chapter was published on December 14, 2017 in Issue 2018-02 as part of Volume 14. It marks the moment Touka openly names Kaneki her husband, a revelation that visibly rattles Mutsuki.
