:re Chapter 16

With the auction cleanup set to launch in a week, Juuzou Suzuya and Hanbee Abara talk strategy over snacks, dwelling on Haise Sasaki's friction with the Quinx Squad. Mutsuki interrupts to ask Juuzou for training, and Juuzou dismisses Hanbee so the two can work. Over at the Chateau, Saiko and Shirazu grumble that no one in the house can cook; Saiko settles for instant food while Shirazu steers the talk toward practice, which she misreads. Hanbee then drops by to take the pair out for lunch.

At the restaurant the three chat lightly about work and their hobbies. When the meal ends, Hanbee remarks on their huge appetites and wonders whether it stems from their being Quinx. Saiko takes it as praise until Shirazu sets her straight. After thanking Hanbee for the meal, the two are told there is somewhere else to go, and Saiko assumes they are in trouble for eating so much.

Juuzou drills Mutsuki in wielding several daggers at once, though the skill looks too daunting to copy. When Mutsuki asks whether Juuzou fears cutting himself on his own blades, Juuzou answers that he feels no pain, and he opens up about his dread of fighting and losing control the way Haise once did. To settle himself he recites a saying about fear told through the image of fire and how it applies to the Quinx, a line he credits to his teacher, Shinohara. Hanbee brings Saiko and Shirazu to a hospital and greets the comatose Yukinori Shinohara, speaking of how Juuzou would become his final partner should he never wake, and admitting he might not manage such visits in the same position. Leaving to see someone else, Hanbee departs, and on the way out the two encounter Touka Kirishima, whom Shirazu knows from :re. They exchange polite greetings before she goes, and the bouquet she carries makes Shirazu wonder whom she is visiting; Saiko, who has never met her, is left confused by his roundabout answers. Across the week Haise trains hard with most of his squad, with only Urie choosing to work alone. On the day of the auction a great crowd of investigators assembles, Mutsuki and Haise exchange nervous thanks, and Mutsuki and Juuzou come face to face with Nutcracker.

The Japanese title Migi is translated as Right. The chapter was published on February 12, 2015 in Issue 2015-11 and collected in Volume 2, an early installment that builds toward the Auction Mopping-up Operation.
