:re Chapter 31.5

A month after the auction operation, the Quinx Squad throws a Christmas Eve gathering at their Chateau home. Sasaki and Saiko stay cheerful, Shirazu and Mutsuki savor a rare day off, and everyone is put to work on preparations, with Urie roped into shopping from Mutsuki's vaguely written list. The earliest guests to arrive are Kuramoto Itou and Takeomi Kuroiwa, followed by a Halloween-confused Suzuya and Hanbee, and finally Arima and Akira Mado.

Over dinner the guests marvel at the Quinx's growing fame within the CCG, look ahead to an awards ceremony, and trade wild rumors about Arima, some of which prove partly true. Sasaki hands out gifts to his squad and privately offers Arima a horse tiepin out of gratitude. Alone that night, he wonders about Kaneki, aware only that the man had a great many friends.

At the :re cafe, Uta visits Yomo and Touka, dodging questions about the Clowns' plans while calling Kaneki a special customer. The next morning Shirazu shows Sasaki an anonymous gift, a mask from HySy ArtMask Studio that his inner Kaneki names Eyepatch, along with a signed copy of the novel titled The Hanged Man's MacGuffin, addressed to Ken Kaneki as a birthday present.

The Quinx and their guests share a lively Christmas Eve party at the Chateau. Sasaki gives Arima a horse tiepin in thanks. Uta visits the :re cafe and calls Kaneki a special customer. Sasaki receives an anonymous Eyepatch mask and a signed novel addressed to Ken Kaneki, deepening the mystery of his past.

Presented as a one-shot with the Japanese title 主と, read as Shu to and localized as Rest, the chapter opens the fourth volume across nineteen pages. It first ran in issue 2015-28 on June 11, 2015, and its cover page carries a wistful line about having believed oneself to be alone.
