Shaving Cores is the fifty-first chapter of Tokyo Ghoul:re. Shinji takes charge of the Quinx against Noro's monstrous kakuja, which claims his life, while a battered Haise turns the tables on Kanae at the very edge of the skyscraper.
Summary
His arm freshly severed, Haise reels as Kanae flings his lost hand off the roof and jeers at him, then hammers him through a wall with a kagune strike.
Down below, Shinji Michibata tends to Kuramoto Itou's injuries and calls for medical support, praising his skill and pushing him to hold himself together. Shinji assumes command of the Quinx Squad, warning that their foe is the SS-rated Noro of Aogiri Tree and that reinforcements are essential. As he pieces together a plan, Shirazu proposes bringing out Nutcracker. While Mutsuki keeps Noro occupied, Shirazu charges in, and the quinque swells and rends Noro in half. Shinji closes in and drives a blade into Noro's head, but Noro comes alive and unleashes his kakuja, killing Shinji and wounding every investigator nearby.
Back on the rooftop, Kanae dangles Haise over the drop and tells him to become a lovely memory for Shuu. Before he can let go, Haise swiftly takes his head off.
