On Rushima, Kurona wanders among the dead, recognizing the CCG's handiwork and musing about reuniting with the man she calls papa, Akihiro Kanou. Nearby, Miza reflects on the island and on how monstrous Juuzou has proven to be. Her thoughts drift to her early days in Aogiri Tree, when Naki clumsily introduced himself and Hooguro and Shousei reminded him she was a fresh recruit. Watching Naki lead left her doubting the group, since the White Suits followed him blindly and often put themselves in danger by never planning their attacks.

When Miza questions their loyalty, Hooguro and Shousei bring her to a platform where Naki weeps as he names his fallen comrades. He forgets what happens in meetings, yet he never loses the memory of anyone he has lost, and the men reason that a short-lived crew can at least be remembered by someone forever. Mitsushita praises Miza, only to be run through the wall by Hanbee, who charges her while slicing pillars apart. Struggling to land her triple blades against a foe she admits is dangerous, she finally kicks his weapon into the wall to pin it.

An aside explains that Miza's clan, the Blades, are underground dwarf ghouls who shun human society and marry within the family; the inbreeding gave them powerful bikaku blades but frail, small bodies, earning them mockery as shaving razors. Miza became their leader at eighteen after the elders died off and stands as the strongest in the clan's history. As she leaps in with three blades drawn, Hanbee triggers his quinque's gimmick, sending kagune bursting through the wall to impale her. He taunts her while conceding he nearly died and falls short of Juuzou's level. When Kurona arrives and asks if he serves Suzuya, he recoils and calls her repulsive. Meanwhile, an overpowering stench floods the tunnel the Quinx Squad moves through, slurring Urie's speech as he pushes ahead until he steps into a cave and finds a torso propped on a chair, leaving him stunned.

Miza's backstory as leader of the underground Blades clan is laid out, along with the origin of their bikaku kagune. Hanbee impales her using his quinque's hidden mechanism, and Kurona appears on the battlefield. Urie follows a foul smell to a torso seated in a cave, the grim aftermath of Torso's habits.

The chapter deepens the White Suits' devotion to Naki, framing their loyalty around his refusal to forget the dead. It also formally introduces the Blades as a reclusive family of dwarf ghouls whose consanguineous unions shaped both their strength and their fragility.
