:re Chapter 97

Kaya Irimi mocks her stunned enemies. Kuramoto Itou grumbles about always drawing surprise opponents, since the Black Dogs were thought wiped out. Kaya briefly trades attacks with Itou, evades a sudden strike from Takeomi Kuroiwa, and swaps him for Shuu Tsukiyama, who shatters Takeomi's quinque and kicks him. As Itou battles Naki and Miza Kusakari, he tells Takeomi to switch to his spare and promptly takes a wound to the brow, drawing praise from Shousei Idera and Hooguro for the hit. Kaya and Koori Ui then clash at high speed, and after Koori stabs the face of a ghoul trying to flank him, Taishi Fura strikes Kaya from behind. Koori seizes the opening to land a blow, only for a hooded figure to grab his quinque and catch him off guard.

Nearby, Shikorae checks on Roma Hoito while Kurona Yasuhisa tells Nishiki Nishio her strike was non-lethal, having missed Roma's kakuhou. Roma charges Nishiki with garbled screams and is stopped when Kurona cuts through her kagune, slashing her across the midriff. As Kurona moves to run her through with a kakuja blade, Roma calls to Shikorae, who fights back with his ukaku and then his koukaku before taking a heavy kick from Nishiki, who learns of Shikorae's multiple kagune types. Inwardly confident, Roma nonetheless flees as the others simply watch.

Koutarou Amon and Kuki Urie cross weapons before Ching-Li Hsiao back-kicks Amon and opens up with Kuai 1/4. Urie drives Ginkui's blade into the one-eyed ghoul's shoulder, and Saiko Yonebayashi joins in, landing a hit that surprises them when Amon absorbs it. When she tries to claim ownership of him for once saving her life during the Rose case, Urie sharply rebukes her, his words striking even Tooru Mutsuki, before he tears through Amon's upper body with Ginkui's mouths.

Kaya Irimi returns and fights the Itou Squad, Tsukiyama, and Koori Ui, whose quinque is seized by a hooded figure. Kurona wounds Roma but spares her kakuhou, and after Shikorae reveals his multiple kagune types against Nishiki, Roma flees. Urie leads the Quinx Squad against Amon, rebuking Saiko before ripping through Amon's upper half with Ginkui.

Featured in issue 2016-47 on October 20, 2016, this chapter is part of the ninth volume of Tokyo Ghoul:re. Its Japanese title is Mihitotsu, with an alternate reading of miitsu matching the Japanese name of the ninety-seventh surah of the Quran, Al-Qadr, meaning Fate. The installment escalates the Rushima combat and ends on Amon's devastating injury at Urie's hands.
