The Slave Arc is the second movement of Vinland Saga, trading open warfare for the quiet brutality of a Danish farm. Running from chapter 55 to chapter 99, it follows a broken Thorfinn as he labors toward freedom and reckons with the killer he once was.
Positioned between the War Arc and the Eastern Expedition Arc, this second division of the story spans chapters 55 through 99. The anime devoted the whole of its twenty-four episode second season to adapting it.
Now a young man sold into bondage, Thorfinn toils at Ketil's farm, where he strikes up a friendship with Einar, a fellow captive from Britain. The two work steadily toward the day they can purchase their liberty, while Thorfinn, hollowed out by remorse, confronts the memory of the merciless killer he used to be.

The arc closes out the farm chapter of Thorfinn's life and turns him toward his eastern voyage.
