The third of four story arcs in Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga, the Eastern Expedition turns Thorfinn from bondage toward an impossible dream. Spanning chapters 100 through 166, it trades the farm's confines for a long voyage eastward in search of the means to reach Vinland.
Set between the Slave Arc and the closing Vinland Arc, this is the third major division of the manga, running roughly from chapter 100 to chapter 166. The anime reached only its opening beats, dramatizing Chapter 100 along with part of the following chapter as the finale of its second season.
Sixteen years after he first left, Thorfinn returns to his homeland. Bankrolling the hunt for Vinland forces him to look east, setting his sights on a journey that reaches all the way to Greece. Along the road he gathers a handful of fresh companions, among them Gudrid, Karli and Hild, who throw in with his cause.

Naruto vs Luffy with the twist nobody asked for: Luffy tickled Hinata on date night, and she kind of liked it. We break down the whole fight and commit to a winner....

The Eastern Expedition Arc is the third of Vinland Saga's four story arcs, covering chapters 100 through 166. Sixteen years after leaving home, Thorfinn journeys east as far as Greece to raise funds for settling Vinland, gathering new allies such as Gudrid, Karli, and Hild while Sigurd, son of Halfdan, pursues the group.
Vinland Saga's anime season 2 finale adapted chapter 100 and part of the next chapter, the opening of the Eastern Expedition Arc. A season 3 would therefore continue that arc, which runs through chapter 166 before the story moves into the Vinland Arc.
The Eastern Expedition Arc runs from chapter 100 to chapter 166 of the Vinland Saga manga, making it the third of the series' four major story divisions.
The Eastern Expedition Arc sits between the Slave Arc and the Vinland Arc, following Thorfinn's years of bondage on Ketil's farm and leading directly into the final push to settle Vinland.
During the Eastern Expedition Arc, Thorfinn and his companions are shadowed by Sigurd, the son of Halfdan, whose pursuit dogs the expedition throughout their journey east.
