History
Ethelred once wore the English crown before Sweyn drove him out of power. When Sweyn died, the exiled king saw an opening and moved to wrest the throne back from the conqueror's son, Canute. The gambit collapsed and cost Ethelred his life, as he met his end through poisoning. His bloodline carried on through his son, Edmund Ironside.
