Udai Taxim

Standing at six foot two, Udai carries a lean, almost gaunt build behind a pair of glasses, a thin mustache tracing his upper lip. Images from his youth show a cleaner face, the hair chemically straightened and tied back into a ponytail.

Beneath that slight frame sits a fighter of near-flawless conditioning, drilled in martial arts and close-quarters combat well enough to trade blows with Jet on even terms. His speech runs soft and unhurried. Jet paints him as a relic, someone who no longer fits the present era. Ruthlessness and manipulation define his methods, and he will remove anyone standing in his path, yet he clings to a stubborn loyalty toward the organization right up until it betrays him. Fans often read him as Jet's mirror of Vicious, an assassin tied to the Syndicate's European wing.

Through the 2060s, Udai grew into a prized operative for the European Syndicate. That work drew him into a scheme against Jet Black, then an ISSP agent and one of the rare officers the Syndicate could not buy. Working in tandem with Fad, another man on the payroll, Udai cornered Jet in an isolated spot. Jet came away short one arm and had to replace it with a prosthetic.

In 2071 the law caught up with him, and he was loaded onto a transport bound for Pluto. A wiring failure handed the inmates their opening, and Udai helped them seize the ship and slaughter most aboard. He devised a plan to punch through the police cordon boxing them in, and he reached out to the Syndicate for aid, only to be refused. Left with no choice, he dug in with the other convicts. Jet and Fad ran the vessel down and boarded it, and the moment Udai spotted Jet on the monitors, he broke off to claim the confrontation for himself.

A short exchange of gunfire gives way to a hand-to-hand duel, the two men rehashing their shared history as they trade strikes. Jet blames him for the lost arm and starts to overpower him, until Udai drives a blade into his leg. Then comes the twist: Udai admits he never pulled the trigger that maimed Jet, laying the deed instead on his old partner. Before the fight can resume, Fad puts a bullet through Udai's head.
