The tension diffuses when Beerus agrees to overlook it in exchange for food he has never tried, and Bulma's fish sausage does the trick.

Future Trunks recounts the horrors of his timeline. Goku Black appeared one day, declared he would annihilate humanity "for the sake of justice," and proceeded to lay waste to civilization. Future Trunks also reveals that he successfully prevented Majin Buu's resurrection by killing Future Dabura and Future Babidi under Future Shin's guidance. The notebook Future Bulma left in the Time Machine contains her research on how to refuel it, giving the group a path forward. Vegeta, Goku, and Future Trunks resolve to travel to the future and confront Black directly.

The fact that Black is stated to be even stronger than this makes the coming conflict genuinely intimidating.

Goku blocking Future Trunks' sword with his fingers is a deliberate callback to their first meeting during the Android Saga, where Goku stopped the blade with a single finger. It is a visual shorthand that says everything: Goku has grown exponentially, and yet Black may have grown even further. The moment is nostalgic without being cheap.
