باري باري نو مي

This Paramecia fruit lets its owner summon barriers out of nothing, marking them as a Barrier Human. Its earliest wielder was Kurozumi Semimaru, and after his death the fruit returned to circulation and was eaten by Bartolomeo. Western releases render its name variously as Barrier-Barrier Fruit or Bari-Bari Fruit.

The shields appear either invisible or as tinted, glass-like panes and domes, often called up by crossing the fingers, though that gesture is not strictly required. They can protect from a single direction or wrap around fully, depending on the shape given.

The barriers are extraordinarily tough. Bartolomeo believed his to be unbreakable, and confirmed feats include stopping Kouzuki Oden's slashes, which once bisected the Mountain God and scarred Kaidou, Elizabello II's fortress-shattering King Punch, a blow able to break four thousand tiles, Dellinger's ten-ton kicks, Hakuba's blinding sword strikes, and Gladius' self-rupture. Shields can also be thrown to strike targets or bounce enemy force back, and Oda has stated their reach spans 50,000 Bari Baris.

Limits do exist. Only one barrier can hold at a time, and there is a cap on how much surface can be raised at once, which left Bartolomeo unable to fully block Pica's stone fist. Certain shapes can be flanked from the sides, above, or below, especially against ambushes or superhuman speed, and the barriers are usually not soundproof. The fruit grants no extra toughness, so a bypassed shield leaves the user exposed, alongside the standard Devil Fruit weaknesses.

Semimaru, the original owner, used a barrier to save the shogun Orochi from an enraged Oden, and little else of his usage is recorded. Bartolomeo, the reincarnated fruit's holder, defends himself by letting foes injure themselves against his shields, then strikes back with them, crushes enemies between walls, or shapes them into footholds and staircases.

His repertoire covers the basic Barrier, the launched Barrier Crash, the bulldozing Barrier Bulls, the containing Barrier Ball, and the shape-shifting Barrierbility used to form stairs and a racket. Homage Shinken wraps a barrier around his fist so that Bari Bari no Pistol, which deliberately echoes the Gomu Gomu no Pistol that Luffy uses, can finish an opponent, as it did against Gladius.
