The My Favorite Cover Poll
How the Poll Works
The Dragon Ball Super manga is running a fan poll called "My Favorite Cover." Fans vote for their favorite combination of front and back cover art among the 24 volumes released so far, and voting closes on May 31, 2026. The manga is illustrated by Toyotarou, based on the original work, story, and character design by Akira Toriyama, and it has run monthly in Shueisha's V-Jump magazine since 2015. Dragon Ball Super is the print continuation of the Dragon Ball series, which marked its 40th anniversary in 2024. Across the 24 volumes, the manga has followed the Super storyline from the arrival of the God of Destruction Beerus through later arcs such as Goku Black, the Tournament of Power, the Galactic Patrol Prisoner story, and Super Hero. The 24 volumes were released between 2016 and 2024, and several of those arcs, including the Galactic Patrol Prisoner and Granolah the Survivor stories, ran in the manga before any anime adaptation.
Toyotarou has asked fans on X to cast their votes before the deadline. The result carries an incentive. The winning cover set will not only be named, it will receive a new and more elaborate alternate version that Toyotarou will draw himself.
When the Results Arrive
The August Reveal on Weekly Dragon Ball News
After voting closes on May 31, the results will be revealed in August 2026 during a special edition of Weekly Dragon Ball News. That program is the franchise's official video news series, published every Monday on Japan time, and it regularly carries updates on Dragon Ball games, anime, and merchandise.
Toyotarou is scheduled to appear on the special broadcast to announce which covers received the most votes. The program will confirm the winning front and back cover combination and establish which artwork Toyotarou will redraw in the alternate version.
The Manga's Hiatus and Return
Serialization on Pause
The poll is running during a break in the manga's serialization. Dragon Ball Super has been on hiatus since chapter 103, which was published in March 2024. Toyotarou has said he is working on the series' next saga, so story development has continued during the pause. The cover poll is one of the few manga-related items in recent franchise news. In the V-Jump issue released on May 19, 2026, Dragon Ball had a large presence built around recent announcements, but that issue did not include information about the manga's next chapter.
Signs of a Return
Other details point to the manga's return. New spine art for Volume 25 has appeared, which would be the first collected volume beyond the 24 included in the cover poll. Toyotarou's bio on X reads, "Everything is for the return of the series." The renewed activity comes as the wider franchise has announced new anime for 2026, including the Dragon Ball Super: Beerus remake and the planned Galactic Patrol series. Together with the work on the next saga, those are the current signals around the manga as the cover poll closes in May and the August results broadcast approaches.
