Summary

Korosensei and Karasuma enter the complex to find the Reaper holding Irina at gunpoint, the captives fitted with explosive collars. The assassin flings Irina at the pair, and she shoots one of Korosensei's tentacles, breaking his focus long enough for the Reaper to spring a trapdoor that plunges the teacher down among the imprisoned students. Because the bars are anti-sensei metal, Korosensei cannot slip through without injury, so he resorts to licking them to the class's bewilderment.

The Reaper reveals the room links to a drainage channel he can flood, drowning both Korosensei and the students as collateral. Karasuma is stunned that Irina went along with it, and she coldly insists only results matter, claiming she and the assassin share the same origins. Recalling a superior who once let him act on his own judgment, Karasuma punches the Reaper and decides the students come before the mission.

Key Events

The assassin retreats to his control room while Karasuma pursues, shrugging off traps and an explosive door. A collapsing ceiling buries both Karasuma and Irina, and as he considers leaving her, Kurahashi urges over the radio that Irina, only twenty-one and scarred by a childhood war that killed her parents, deserves saving. Freeing her, Karasuma binds her broken arm and tells her the students genuinely need her.

In the control room the Reaper finds the collars gone: the students have blended into the walls with their camouflage uniforms, forcing an embarrassed Korosensei to strip and hide too. Karasuma ambushes the Reaper and drags him into open view, where the faceless killer admits he lied about sharing Irina's past, having instead been captivated by his own father's murder. He fires a hidden finger pistol into Karasuma's chest, only to find a tentacle spurting tomato juice as a shield, and Karasuma downs him with a groin hook and a punch. The freed class coaxes Irina to stay, Karasuma offers her a single rose, and afterward his superior grants the class's request to waive the bounty, hinting at a coming plan codenamed Operation: Last Assassin.
