Time to Say Thank You

Korosensei smothers an explosion and puts the wrecked property back in order before Hotaru and the assassins can lay eyes on it, leaving Azusa stunned by his speed. He admits that a genuine surprise can rattle him, but this time he was braced for it. Back in his teaching attire, he tells her he had read her intent to kill him straight from the bloodlust in her eyes, a look he recognized from one of his own students.

Azusa explains that an incurable infectious tumor has stolen her sight and would eventually take her mobility as well. Broke and buried in debt, she feared leaving Hotaru with nothing, until she overheard the killers mention the bounty on Korosensei's head and concluded that she only had to earn her daughter some money. He praises the scheme, deducing that she would have detonated herself alongside Sengoku had he not intervened.

Without warning, Korosensei hoists Azusa up and slides a tentacle into her ear to extract the tumor, restoring her vision. He credits the discovery to the careful observation his commitment to teaching has sharpened. Before departing for his classroom, he reminds her that her life still holds value and urges her to spend it with Hotaru, and from then on he never sets foot in the pub again.

The story then jumps seven years ahead, where a grown Nagisa is chided by one of his own delinquent pupils for dozing off outside. Rising to face them, he reflects that although he will keep making mistakes, he will do better, and that they are all still growing.

Published on April 25, 2016, this nineteen-page chapter carries the Japanese title Arigato no jikan and stands as the last of the extra chapters, following Pub Time. It caps the sequence with a coda after the author's afterword, in which Korosensei's spirit encourages a downcast Kunudon to embrace new possibilities, likening him to fish that flourish by adapting to change, and Kunudon, glimpsing a lone cherry blossom, resolves to begin again.
