Summary

Four assassins named Mario, Seeker, Chantha, and Futoshi have been treating a small tavern as their planning ground, trusting that the blind proprietor Azusa and her grade-school daughter Hotaru will never notice. Whenever suspicion stirs, they simply pass their talk off as rehearsal for a play. Across many visits, the quartet has quietly grown fond of the pair who run the counter.

Korosensei happens to be drinking there too, giving in to one embarrassing habit after another until the four killers can barely stand the sight of him. When he lets slip that he wants to attend a mixer, Azusa turns the idea into a set of party games with one of her hugs as the reward. The lovesick assassins and the octopus all scramble to win, but his inhuman speed leaves them no opening, and he collects the embrace. The men slink off for the night, telling themselves she would never fall for such a creature, yet sinking into gloom over work they cannot take pride in.

Key Events

The next morning a menacing figure calling himself Sengoku corners Azusa, claiming the debt left by her late husband has swollen past ten million. He moves to seize her and sell her off. Hotaru stumbles onto the scene and is shoved into a rack of bottles as Sengoku hauls her mother away.

Coming back later, the four assassins find the bar wrecked and quickly reason that Azusa has been taken over what she owes. Korosensei turns up offering to lend a hand, only to be waved off. Their logic echoes his own devotion to his pupils: as surely as he shields Class 3-E, they mean to be the ones who defend this bar.

Notes

Released on April 11, 2016 as a nineteen-page installment, this chapter carries the Japanese title Izakaya no jikan. In the running order it falls between Home Time and Identity Time, and it broadens the side cast tied to the pub storyline, chief among them Sengoku, whose debt collection ignites the trouble.
