Chaos

Sonia and Irvine look on as the human members of the band trade blows with Ganishka's spawn. At his request Sonia flattens herself against his body so he can act without harming her, and Irvine vaults over several mounted soldiers to land on the front line. A string materializes between the two antlers of his apostle head, and he tugs loose several hairs from his tail that shape themselves into an arrow. Nocking it against his antlers, he fires his own body like a ballista, and the arrow's fibers branch out inside the struck monster, destroying it from within.

After loosing several more such shots, Irvine has Sonia order the nearby pikemen to charge, and the fight roars on with humans and apostles arrayed together against the monsters. From above, seated on his garuda, Daiba watches in disbelief. Apostles, as he understands them, are people who cast off their humanity and were cast out in turn, so their partnership with humans ought to be unthinkable, yet here both sides have accepted one another to stand against Ganishka.

Laban and the Arklow Knights hold their guard over the Pontiff, who takes in the spectacle with wonder. In the marching giant and the swarming spawn he recognizes the very sort of incomprehensible forces that drive people to faith and doctrine, and though these beings defy all human logic he perceives them plainly before him.

Rather than dread, the Pontiff feels a strange calm as he fixes his gaze on the center of the battle, where Griffith fights on from horseback.
