Sonia

Sonia is a slender blonde, roughly fifteen years old by the Fantasia period, about 140 centimeters tall and a shade over forty kilograms. The manga colors her eyes blue, while the 2016 anime paints them green. Out on campaign she sets aside her ordinary commoner dress for the armor worn by Griffith's reborn band.

Relentlessly cheerful, Sonia blurts out whatever comes to mind and hardly ever lets fear reach her, mixing easily with the monstrous apostles in Griffith's ranks and brushing off the pirates she runs into at Vritannis. Only a few things ever crack her sunny mood: the fear plain soldiers show toward the band's demon shapes, which she calms with a stirring speech; Charlotte's romantic pursuit of Griffith, which sparks her jealousy; and the instant Rickert slaps the man she reveres. Birds delight her, and she likes to match people to them, once likening herself to a kite, Schierke to an owl, and Griffith to a falcon as she retold the Ugly Duckling. Apart from Griffith, her closest tie is to the apostle Irvine, and the worship she conceived the first moment she laid eyes on the White Falcon never falters.

Sonia both reads minds, catching thoughts through transference, and foresees things yet to come. Those powers long marked her as different, since she witnessed sights and caught voices beyond anyone else's reach, and her strangeness deepened after invaders burned her parents alive and hauled her off. Serving the Falcon's campaigns, she casts her mental pictures into others' heads, alerting warriors like Mule Wolflame to arrows on the way and tracing the currents of lifeforce over a battlefield to steer Griffith toward the foe's heart. The same gift makes her a born manipulator, easing her into the favor of everyone from the Pontiff to Schierke and Ivalera. She insists, too, that only she and Griffith can tread the boughs of the World Spiral Tree without losing their way.
