Awakening

The perilous effort to rebuild Casca's mind nears its end as the final fragment, taking the shape of the Demon Child, drifts before the two sorceresses. They are then confronted by Casca's experience of the fifth Eclipse, a horror that badly shakes Farnese. Schierke urges her to hold on to her own sense of self as Farnese starts to feel exactly how the ordeal tore Casca's mind apart.

In the end, those unbearable memories condense into a heart bound in thorns, the last fragment. Schierke reads the shape as the sign of a curse and reasons that what broke Casca was the collision between her agony and her sense of who she is. The moment brings back the Skull Knight's warning that what Guts desires may not be what Casca desires.

The hound goes on battling the Femto-like bird to guard the women. Seeing the tiny Casca cowering, Farnese vows to drive back Casca's darkness the way Guts once drove back her own. As the bird swoops in to strike, she seals the thorned heart inside the coffined doll, and the monster vanishes. The miniature Casca waves farewell and slips into the now-whole doll, a light floods the dream, and the nightmare closes. In reality, Casca stirs and opens her eyes in a daze.

The heart-shaped final fragment ties Casca's trauma directly to the events of the fifth Eclipse, closing out the Corridor of Dreams journey.
