Skull Knight's Sword

Item

The thorned blade carried by the Skull Knight is his weapon against inhumans. By coating it with a molten mass of beherits he has swallowed, he transforms it into the Sword of Beherits, a weapon meant to seal the God Hand within the abyss.

Overview

The Skull Knight wields a thorned sword against apostles, God Hand members, and other inhuman foes. He can sheathe the blade in a molten pool of beherits stored inside his body, producing the form known as the Sword of Beherits, sometimes rendered as the Sword of Actuation. Its purpose is to entomb the God Hand deep within the swirling abyss.

Function

In its ordinary state the weapon already cuts with real force, cleaving and dismembering packs of monstrous enemies and proving enough for the Skull Knight to trade blows with and even overpower a transformed Zodd. Once clad in countless molten beherits, though, it reaches into the farthest depths of the Astral World, since beherits can slice through dimensions. In this state the sword also rips open astral portals to distant points in the Physical World, granting near-instant passage. A single space-warping stroke from the Sword of Beherits shattered Ganishka's twice-reborn form and set off the Great Wave of the Astral World. The beherit coating is not permanent; the Skull Knight can apply and shed it at will, and he has been seen afterward carrying the blade in its plain form.

Notable Users

Only the Skull Knight bears this sword. He is forced to draw it after Slan vanishes in the Qliphoth, tearing open an escape portal as the realm collapses and carrying Guts back to his companions while trolls and ogres spiral into an abyssal vortex. Later, perched atop the twice-reincarnated Ganishka, he aims the Sword of Beherits at Femto, only for the strike to be redirected into Ganishka, splitting the apostle-emperor apart and triggering the Great Wave. The Dragon Slayer aside, the Skull Knight maintains that his weapon alone can "entomb" the God Hand, and he notes that the beherits forming the blade are ones taken specifically from apostles rather than the Crimson Beherit reserved for the God Hand.
