Garogai

Garogai towers as a massive, heavily muscled figure whose red skin sets off a pair of yellow eyes half-buried beneath his hair. His dark green locks are bound into a long braided ponytail, and his armor is etched with lines that fan out from his sternum to his ankles. Eight black straps cross his body, one at the stomach, one on each thigh, a pair on each arm, and one at his neck, while broken chains dangle from his wrists and the tip of his ponytail.

Garogai keeps to himself, rarely stringing together more than a few words, which lends him a guarded, inscrutable air. He is loyal enough to serve dutifully under Shuren, but he also has a temper that flares when provoked, and a streak of overconfidence proves his undoing. Certain that shattering Renji's Bankai has settled their fight, he lets his guard drop, a fatal misjudgment.

Alongside his fellow Togabito, Garogai first strikes at Karakura High School, singling out Sado and countering his El Directo before taking on Renji's released Zabimaru head-on and hammering the Shinigami into the ground. When he and his comrades venture out of Hell they wear cloaks and masks to slip past the ever-watchful Kushanada. He fights with brute speed and an unusual gift for detaching his arm, flinging it like a grappling hook to cross distances or batter his enemies, and he can loose a green energy pulse strong enough to turn aside heavy attacks.

Once Ichigo enters Hell, Shuren gathers Garogai and the others to hunt him through its descending levels. His long duel with Renji seems won when a single punch smashes the Shinigami's Bankai, but Renji answers with Higa Zekko, sending the broken shards to impale him. He survives to join a final ambush on the fourth level, only to be cut cleanly in two by Kokuto as the traitor moves to shield Yuzu Kurosaki.
