Ryūzaburō

A young boy, Ryūzaburō has dark blue eyes and black hair of medium length. He dresses in a blue kimono cinched by a black belt, with white bandages wound around his forearms.

Bold to the point of recklessness, the boy thinks nothing of slipping into a Hollow's lair to snatch a prize from it, gambling with his life in the process. Ever since his rescue he holds a fierce admiration for Marechiyo Ōmaeda.

Cornered by a Hollow in a Rukongai forest after stealing a large purple ring from its den, Ryūzaburō is saved when Marechiyo Ōmaeda drops from a cliff onto the beast and drives it off. Marechiyo passes himself off as the Second Division's captain, and the grateful villagers fete him. Eager to thank their hero, the boy and his friends talk their way into the Seireitei with help from Ichigo and Yoruichi, and the Shinigami, even Suì-Fēng, play along with the ruse.

The pretense collapses when the children overhear Yumichika and Ikkaku grumbling about Marechiyo and realize he is no captain. A furious Ryūzaburō storms off, only to blunder into the same Hollow and drop the stolen ring, which restores the creature's power. Marechiyo returns once more to slay it, and afterward the boy thanks him sincerely, vowing to become a lieutenant even stronger than his idol.
