Yōsuke

In his ordinary form Yōsuke looks like a small, bashful child, his black hair combed neatly flat and a flush rising to his cheeks whenever attention turns his way. He dresses in a khaki jumper worn over a pale blue shirt with black trousers, and the Chain of Fate dangles from his chest.

Once he twists into a Hollow, his frame balloons into something muscular and green-skinned, grey hair growing out long. Bony spines jut from each arm for fighting, coarse brown fur sheathes his legs, a skull-like mask hides his face, and the hole marking his kind opens across his stomach.

Timid to the core, he tends to duck behind Haru or the nearest tree rather than face a stranger, coloring at the slightest word from Karin or Tōshirō. One wish sits above all others for him: he aches to witness snowfall.

A skiing holiday with his family ended in catastrophe, a disaster that claimed numerous lives including his own, and from then on the sight of falling snow was all he yearned for. Haru took him in afterward, pouring her own spiritual energy into him to keep the Hollow transformation at bay.

When Tōshirō Hitsugaya and Karin visited her home, the boy shied away in the garden before warming enough to accept a carved ice figure shaped like a snowman. The moment Haru collapsed, though, his suppressed nature broke loose: he turned Hollow, seized her, and lunged at Karin, forcing Tōshirō to intervene despite his reluctance to strike. Karin's pleading and Haru's revival calmed him long enough for Tōshirō to grant a clean purification. As his body began to fade, snow finally started to fall, and with that last wish granted he passed peacefully on toward Soul Society.
