Ichigo and Rukia, Thoughts in the Revolving Sky

With Kariya defeated and the Seireitei's cleanup nearly done, Ichigo lounges at the Kuchiki Manor while Rukia recuperates from the strain of Mabashi's possession. A squabble with Renji over who is truly weak draws a stern rebuke from Byakuya, who orders Ichigo home. Settling on the walkway to watch the sky, the trio mulls over Kariya, who so despised the Bount's repeating misery that he came to see time as a turning wheel rather than a forward line.

The idea of revolving sends Rukia and Renji into memory. She recalls learning of her month-long posting to Karakura Town, a solo assignment Ukitake personally saw her off on, while Renji remembers his promotion to lieutenant and Ikkaku's nudge to reconnect with the childhood friend he had not spoken to in decades. Elsewhere, Gō Koga wakes in Ran'Tao's shelter to learn Yoruichi pulled him from the ice, and he quietly accepts that the Bount are fated to fade.

Ichigo intercepts Kon trying to sneak into Rukia's room and reflects on his own hunger for power. Older recollections surface of school with Keigo and Tatsuki, of a vanished child Plus marked only by bloodstains, and of a lonely Dead Girl he brings flowers to, all sharpening his wish for a blade strong enough to break fate and shield those he loves. Reassured by Ukitake that a cyclical history is bearable among friends, Ichigo and his companions gather at the Senkaimon and return home as Shinji Hirako drops into Karakura Town.

Flashbacks establish the origins of key bonds: Rukia's first assignment to the living world, the moment she and Ichigo were destined to meet, and Renji's rise to lieutenant. Yoruichi is revealed to have saved Gō Koga, the last surviving Bount, leaving him in Ran'Tao's care.

Ichigo works through Kariya's fatalism and reaffirms that his strength exists to protect everyone. The group departs Soul Society through the Senkaimon, and Shinji Hirako's arrival in Karakura quietly sets up the arc to come.

An anime-only entry closing the Bount assault storyline, loosely built around the side-story chapters 0.side-A the sand and 0.side-B the rotator. Notably, the same material would later be revisited in episode 227, the only instance of identical content being adapted twice in the same medium. The bonus segment shows Kenpachi enraged to hear Ichigo left without a fight, vowing to strike him down unannounced next time.
