Summary

Battered but unwilling to quit, Uryu keeps firing at Yoshi, whose Doll Nieder shifts between an armored shield and a bladed offense. She admits she craves nothing beyond the thrill of unrestrained slaughter, dismissing Kariya's larger scheme, and carves into Uryu's shoulder to prove her point. Recalling his grandfather Soken's teaching that a Quincy's arrow should be loosed for the sake of what one vows to protect, Uryu steadies his aim and begins landing hits that stagger her.

Across the Seireitei, Captain-Commander Yamamoto gathers his officers to weigh the discovery of the Jokaisho, a sealed weapon powerful enough to obliterate the city in an instant, now in Kariya's grasp. In a nearby alley, Go Koga confronts Kariya over the plan, arguing that a relic tied to their tribe's very existence should never be used as a bomb, only for Kariya to coldly reveal he does not care if every Bount dies and to run him through before walking off.

Uryu at last exploits Nieder's fatal flaw, the brief lag whenever Yoshi swaps between defense and attack, and slips beside her with Hirenkyaku to drive an arrow through her chest. She concedes with a smile and crumbles to dust. Meanwhile, Jushiro Ukitake and Shunsui comb the Seireitei Library for Ran'Tao's scattered notes on the Jokaisho, a healed Koga fights off a squad of Shinigami, and a fading Uryu, comforted by a vision of Soken, is found by Ichigo and Sado.

Notes

This is an anime-only chapter with no manga source, part of the Bount assault on Soul Society. It deepens the tragedy of the Bount by showing Kariya's willingness to sacrifice his tribe, while framing Uryu's win as a lesson in fighting for others rather than vengeance. Rolling Star serves as the opening and Baby It's You as the ending. A Shinigami Women's Association segment closes the episode with most members absent due to the ongoing invasion.
