Isshin's assault on Aizen is turned aside, and the traitor answers with the lightning spell Raikōhō. Nearby, Gin reminisces about their first clash, back when Ichigo severed Jidanbō's arm and charged at him, a moment Gin found delightful; Ichigo flatly says he recalls nothing of Gin's sword or heart. He describes how crossing blades usually lets him read an opponent's intent, yet Gin has revealed nothing and saw nothing in him either. Amusement turning to unease, Gin decides the boy is simply creepy, though he senses why Aizen finds him fascinating.

Gin turns to riddles about his weapon, boasting that it stretches a hundred blade-lengths and that childhood earned him the name Hundred Sheather. When Ichigo refuses the guessing game, Gin claims his Bankai reaches thirteen kilometers and warns he will not hold back. He releases Kamishini no Yari, and in a heartbeat rows of buildings are sliced through and topple. His thrust at Ichigo is blocked with ease, prompting Ichigo to point out that one Bankai can always meet another. Batting the blade aside, he unleashes a Getsuga Tenshō that strikes Gin head-on, leaving him lightly hurt and muttering once more that Ichigo is a creepy kid.

The fourth chapter of volume 46, BACK FROM BLIND, and the first of the DEICIDE run of chapters. It debuts Gin Ichimaru's Bankai, Kamishini no Yari, and its misleading emphasis on length over speed. The chapter was adapted in episode 297, The Extending Blade?! Ichigo vs. Gin!
