With his mask broken, Ichigo pants heavily as Gin questions how he became so weak, recalling that the boy once frightened him far more, and again tells him to run.

Urahara checks on Yoruichi, whose right arm guard is gone, and she brushes off his concern, noting the half-finished armor let her block a strike she could otherwise have dodged. Aizen claims his own show of worry toward Urahara is merely part of his design, then admits it is only an observation, confessing real interest because Urahara alone holds an intellect above his own. Urahara deflects, calling himself nothing more than the humble owner of a small candy shop.

Urahara fires Hado 32, Okasen, which Aizen blocks while guessing it screens a sneak attack. Yoruichi strikes and Aizen catches her, but she triggers Shunko, tearing through his guarding arm and landing a hit that fractures the right side of his body and hurls him into the town. She keeps pressing until Aizen seizes her fist and reminds her she cannot win this way. Urahara binds him with Shibari, Benihime, then detonates Hiasobi, Benihime and Juzu Tsunagi, yet Aizen walks out nearly untouched, asking if that was their trump card. At that instant Isshin appears directly before him and drives a Getsuga Tensho into him at point-blank range.

Gin repeatedly presses Ichigo to withdraw as the teen falters. Yoruichi's Shunko cracks Aizen's body for the first time, and after Urahara's binding-and-explosion combination fails to finish him, Isshin lands a point-blank Getsuga Tensho.
