The Known

Pressed about his true intentions, the stranger only asks Ichigo how much he really understands about his own relatives before Ikumi cuts in and agrees to hold onto the photograph while she weighs the job. On his way out, the man drops a hint that a trip to Urahara's shop might show Ichigo something worth seeing. Two of his associates, Riruka Dokugamine and Giriko Kutsuzawa, ambush him outside to gripe that he failed to win the boy over, and he brushes past their complaints.

Inside the shop, Urahara hands Karin merchandise built to keep souls at bay and refuses her payment, claiming he still owes her brother. When he gently probes whether her resolve has shifted, she insists it has not, declaring that after all Ichigo has done for her, protecting him is now her responsibility. Ichigo catches sight of her hurrying away and puzzles over the visit, only for the stranger to materialize behind him, press him to move before his family is endangered, and finally supply a name: Kugo Ginjo.

The chapter names Kugo Ginjo for the first time and frames his pitch around Ichigo's need to protect his sisters. It also spotlights Karin's determination to guard Ichigo now that he is powerless, and introduces Ginjo's allies Riruka and Giriko in passing.

The fifth chapter of The Lost Agent, adapted across anime Episodes 344 and 345. Karin's shopping trip pays off the cliffhanger of the prior chapter and underlines the growing spiritual danger around the Kurosaki household.
