The Six Fullbringers

Reeling at the sight of Sado among Xcution's ranks, Ichigo demands answers while Riruka squabbles over the dark room and slowly realizes this newcomer is the very person the group has been chasing. Once Kugo sheathes the blade he had drawn, he begins the real explanation. He describes how a Hollow's open chest and its mask both spring from the lost heart of a soul the Soul Reapers failed to save, then reveals that every Fullbringer was born to a parent once attacked by a Hollow, leaving a fragment of that power to pass down to the child.

The members despise these inherited abilities and, after years of gathering others like them, learned they can transfer their powers to someone of the opposite nature, a being born of both Soul Reaper and human. Ichigo, Kugo notes, is not the first such child, and earlier allies already reverted to ordinary humanity this way. For Xcution to be freed, Ichigo must regain his Soul Reaper strength. Sado admits he joined because he could no longer bear to watch his friend powerless, urging Ichigo to embrace the fighter he is. Ichigo agrees to help, and a curious Riruka shines a flashlight on him, only to freeze, decide he is handsome, and topple over blushing.

Kugo reveals the shared origin of all Fullbringers and the mechanism by which they can shed their powers onto Ichigo. Sado's heartfelt appeal tips Ichigo into accepting the alliance, formally launching his path back toward his Soul Reaper powers.

The opening chapter of the fiftieth volume, which shares its title, adapted across anime Episodes 346 and 347. A montage of past Hollows, including Grand Fisher and Numb Chandelier, accompanies Kugo's account of how Fullbring is inherited.
