Summary

A look into Hiori's childhood shows him narrating how everything shifted once he grasped that his parents valued him only as a set of statistics. Where he had played to please them, he now played to keep the household from splintering. He remembers Karasu urging him to ignore others' opinions and set expectations for himself instead. Hiori came to Blue Lock chiefly to escape his parents, and he stayed and kept competing because he could not bear to go home. The memory jumps to the dormitory trial, where a Hiori ranked two hundred ninety-first drives a ball into another player's face.

Back in the match, Hiori senses that something about Baro is exceptional, drawing people in. He knows he lacks Baro's magnetism and holds no ego that others adore, and he admits he does not share the common hunger to be the world's finest. What pleases him is that he has found Isagi, someone who envisions the same future he does. His aura swells as he realizes he is the key to Isagi's awakening; without his arrival at Blue Lock, Isagi might never have discovered metavision, and he refuses to let that talent stay buried. Hiori decides the future worth living for is to crown Isagi a king.

On the pitch, Niko feeds Lorenzo, and as Isagi and Kaiser both rush to poach the ball, Lorenzo taunts the meta buddies for falling into a trap. Just as Baro moves to receive Lorenzo's pass, Hiori slides in to steal it, declaring that he possesses the same eyes. With the image of a ball chained to his neck snapping loose, Hiori understands he has found the key to his own future.
