Michiko Tendo

A horizontal scar runs the width of her face, the same distinctive mark worn by her partner Yutaro Kurose. She stands quite tall, gathering her brown hair into a loose, untidy ponytail while lengthy strands frame the sides of her head and spill below her shoulders. For fieldwork she dresses in the regulation outfit issued to Public Safety Devil Hunters.

Makima's presence leaves her visibly on edge, and she is quick to stress that a permanent posting to the Tokyo special division holds no appeal for her. A considerate streak surfaces in quieter moments as well: upon discovering Aki Hayakawa in tears, she proposed giving him some privacy rather than intruding on his grief.

Her reason for entering Public Safety traces back to the Gun Devil, which had wrecked her life, though she never tried to destroy it herself, certain the task was beyond anyone. Her one known pact bound her to the Punishment Devil at a cost that was never disclosed.

When Makima travels to Kyoto, Tendo and Kurose await her at a station, shaken by reports of a deadly ambush aboard the train; their leader steps off drenched in blood yet wholly unharmed. Ordered to secure an elevated shrine, the pair are blindfolded while Makima strikes at the terrorists from afar, since rank-and-file hunters may not learn which devils she has bound. The two then accompany her to Tokyo and visit the convalescing Aki, telling him he will need a stronger devil if he intends to stay useful, before escorting him to a concealed facility and his meeting with the Future Devil.

Recalled to the capital later to help guard Denji, Tendo rides alongside Kurose and a fellow Kyoto hunter named Subaru. Their car is wrecked by road spikes, and American assassins smash the windows and shoot all three dead. Her corpse resurfaces during the Gun Devil's onslaught against Makima, chained among many others so that her Punishment Devil contract can be turned against the enemy.
