Yutaro Kurose

Kurose keeps his black hair short and usually turns up in the standard uniform of the Public Safety exterminators. A horizontal scar runs across his face, the very mark his partner Michiko Tendo also bears.

Much like Tendo, he grows jittery around Makima and makes a point of insisting he has no wish to join the Special Division. A regional accent slips out plainly in his speech, though he reins it in when dealing with people from Tokyo.

The Gun Devil wrecked Kurose's life, which is what pushed him into Public Safety, yet he never once attempted to slay it, sure the task was hopeless. Stationed in Kyoto's Division 1 with Michiko Tendo, he accompanies Makima on her train journey and is blindfolded during her strike on a band of terrorists, since ordinary hunters are barred from learning which Devils she holds.

The pair travel to Tokyo to drill the rebuilt Special Division 4 and meet Aki as he recovers from his clash with Katana Man. Kurose guides him to the underground vault where Public Safety cages Devils and introduces him to the Future Devil. Once the deal is struck he drives Aki off, tosses him a can of cola, and leaves him a parting warning that everyone in the Special Division is unhinged. Later summoned back to guard Denji, Kurose is run off the road and gunned down by American hunters, who then borrow his face through a Skin Devil pact. His body is chained up during the Gun Devil's assault on Makima so that his Punishment Devil contract can be hurled against the enemy.
