Nayuta is the Control Devil reborn after Makima dies, handed to Denji by Kishibe to be raised as his kid sister so she never repeats her predecessor's cruelty. A bratty yet fiercely clever girl, she becomes a fixture of the Academy Saga and the closest thing to family Denji has ever had.
Nayuta presents as a small girl whose hair, rendered dark brown in color pages, falls to shoulder length with one thick lock draped across her face. A mole marks the skin beneath her left eye. She carries the same unsettling gaze as Makima and Yoru: yellow irises encircled by concentric bands of red. By the Academy Saga she has grown taller and bears herself with more maturity while still reading as a child. Her hair, now longer, is plaited into a braid slung over one shoulder in clear echo of Makima, and the long forelock continues to hide her left eye. In the rewritten reality where Pochita was never born, she instead wears the coat and uniform of a Public Safety Devil Hunter.
Denji sums her up as a problem child of extreme temperament, and the label fits. As a devil wearing human shape she gravitates naturally toward people, and like her former self she dotes on dogs, befriending Makima's pack without ever resorting to control over them. Her attachment to Denji borders on possessive; she calls him her property yet plainly cares for him, and she pushes him to drop Asa Mitaka on the reasoning that every girl in his orbit eventually tries to kill him. Demanding by nature, she flashes peace signs, insists on ice cream every day, and is sharp enough that Denji sets money aside for her college tuition.
Little of Makima's calculation survives in her. Having grown up around Denji, she mirrors his slang, his laugh, and his blunt manner, thawing from an initially terse child into a chatty, mischievous one who once mind-controlled Yoru into behaving like a dog and rewrote both Yoru's and Asa's memories purely for fun. Her morality runs on personal taste more than principle. She greets Fami's prophecy of humanity's downfall with delight until she hears it would cost her pizza and Chinese food, then refuses to lend a hand on the grounds that school comes first. She professes indifference to the lives of classmates and even to her own kills, claiming that slaughter is as natural as a fish swimming, yet she recoils in real horror when Denji butchers the Weapon Hybrids, and she admits that killing thrills her far less than a video game does. Only Denji anchors her to restraint. After Pochita unmakes himself and spins up a new timeline, she is reborn into Makima's former role at the head of a division, though as a spoiled, game-obsessed girl handed authority young rather than a schemer.
When Makima dies, the Control Devil returns to the world as Nayuta, born in China. Fearing she would grow into another Makima, Kishibe delivers the infant to Denji, who raises her as his younger sister. She first reaches Denji baffled by the pity she feels for him and by an urge to claim his heart; turning her power on him, she recovers the memory of who she was along with her old aim of severing his bond with Pochita. Time spent with him erodes that goal, and she comes to love him instead, at one point brainwashing a rioter into carrying Denji to safety while a mob set upon her.
Her toolkit matches Makima's in kind if not in scale. She commands the same chain attacks and the baseline devil powers, but can loose only three chains at once and cannot dominate everyone, failing notably against Barem Bridge. She can strip away and rewrite memories in humans, devils, and fiends alike, and can warp how a devil perceives sensations such as taste. In the rebuilt timeline she keeps these gifts, conjuring chains and barking Bang! to pin Power.
